‘What Have You Done For Me Lately’ Does Not Apply In New Orleans

Last night, the Saints were embarrassed in front of their home crowd when they lost to the Atlanta Falcons on Monday Night Football by a score of 45-32. The team was missing many starters on both sides of the ball, but that should not be the excuse for their embarrassing loss.

The defense let Matt Ryan do whatever he wanted when he sought in the “Big Easy” last night. There were times where the Saints defense could have recorded a sack on Ryan but failed to do so.

Defenders missing tackles have nothing to do with players being out due to injuries. The Saints defense has given up a total of 93 points this season. The saying “what have you done for me lately” do not apply to Sean Payton and the rest of the Saints front office.

Payton continues to be rewarded for what occurred in 2009 when the team won its first Super Bowl Title in team history. The Saints would field competitive teams from 2010 thru 2013, but have failed to continue their success going forward. Unless something drastically happens in the following weeks, the Saints will finish the season with a 7-9 record for the third consecutive year.

It’s about time Sean Payton and Mickey Loomis be held accountable for their recent decisions that they have made for this football team. I understand that the team had starters not on the field due to injury, but this is where making wise decisions in the later rounds in the draft and free agency come into place.

Not having a lack of depth on the Saints roster is where Payton has failed this ball club. You cannot even use the “next man up” mantra with this ball club because no one is even capable of living up to that saying.
