The Dallas Cowboys are off to one of their best starts in team history. They have a record of 10-1 and is the projected number one seed in the NFC Playoff Picture. With that being said, many fans would like to know if their team would have a fighter’s chance at defeating the Cowboys in the postseason. Today Gridiron Fanatic will list three teams that are capable of knocking off the Cowboys in the postseason.
Here’s the disclaimer, one of these teams may or may not advance to the playoffs this season. But if they do, they will pose one of the biggest challenges that the Cowboys have faced all season. All three of these teams that will be listed have a few things in common with the Cowboys.
These ball clubs have had some success playing the Cowboys in previous seasons. They are well aware of what kind of damage the Cowboys massive offensive line can do to opposing defenses. So if any of these teams face the Cowboys in the playoffs, they know what type of football game they are about to be playing.
1. New York Giants
The New York Giants are a division rival of the Dallas Cowboys and have defeated them on numerous occasions. They beat the Cowboys in the first game of the season 20-19. Things could have gone in a different direction if Cowboys wide receiver Terrence Williams would have gone out of bounds during the final seconds of the ball game.
The next matchup between the two is on December 11th at MetLife Stadium. Even if the Cowboys avenge their Week 1 loss, they still could lose to the Giants in the playoffs if they had to face them. A lot of teams have taken it to another level when they advance to the playoffs. If you know the track record of the Giants in the postseason, you see that it could spell disaster for the Cowboys.
2. Seattle Seahawks
The Seattle Seahawks are the type of ball club that can be successful in any environment. Their defense has been noted for stopping some of the best offenses that the league has seen in recent memory. If they had to go up against the Cowboys in the playoffs, it would be no different.
3. New Orleans Saints
Recently, football analyst has been stating that “one team that no one wants to face in the postseason is the New Orleans Saints if they had to make the playoffs.” They are 100 percent correct; opposing teams d does not want to get into a shootout with Drew Brees and the Saints high-powered offense. They are 5-6 right now and are two games behind the Atlanta Falcons for first place in the NFC South. If they run the table, they will most likely make the playoffs this season. The biggest challenge for the Saints would be if their defense can get past the Cowboys offensive line and rattle Dak Prescott.
