According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Texans wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins has left training camp due to his current contract situation. Schefter also reported that the Texans would not negotiate at this time, and Hopkins will be fined $40,000 for each day of training camp that Hopkins will miss.
Should the Texans cave into the demands and pay Hopkins the money that he desires? They may not have any other choice but to pay him because without Hopkins the team has no chance to contend for the AFC South Title this season.
I have said before “J.J. Watt Cannot Play Quarterback” meaning he cannot do everything to help this ball club succeed. The Texans have high expectations this season, and their projected starting roster is the best that I have seen in a long time. Those expectations can go down the drain if DeAndre Hopkins is not in the lineup for the Texans this season.
Brock Osweiler had a hard time throwing the football to elite receivers such as Demaryius Thomas when he was with the Denver Broncos; he will have a tough time throwing if a player such as the caliber of Hopkins is not on the field.
