The man they called “The Sheriff” Peyton Manning will finally call it a career after having one of the best 18 years run as a quarterback in NFL history. Today, Gridiron Fanatic will list five of the best career moments in his illustrious career.

Patriots vs. Colts: 2006-2007 AFC Championship Game

The Indianapolis Colts had failed to get the job done against the New England Patriots on two separate occasions in the postseason. However, during the 2006-2007 seasons, the Colts would finally get their opportunity to host an AFC Championship Game in front of their home crowd against Tom Brady and the New England Patriots. They managed to overcome a 21-6 deficit over the Patriots, which resulted in a 38-34 win for the Colts. Manning and the Colts would go on to win Super Bowl XLI against the Chicago Bears 29-17.

Colts vs. Buccaneers 2003: Tony Dungy Gets His Revenge

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were the reigning Super Bowl Champions coming into the 2003 season. Tony Dungy was fired as Bucs head coach a season before their Super Bowl run that occurred in 2002. The game started off as a defensive clinic put on by the Buccaneers defense, however, in the final five minutes of the game, it was mass chaos. Peyton Manning rallied the Colts to a thrilling fourth quarter victory by the score of 38-35. Manning shredded the Bucs vaunted defense by completing 34 of 47 passes for 386 yards and two touchdown passes. From that night forward, the Bucs 2003 season would take a turn for the worst.

Patriots vs. Colts 2009: The 4th and 2 Game

Once again, it was another wild and crazy finish to the Brady vs. Manning rivalry. As usual, the game started off as a lopsided affair as the Patriots dominated the Colts for the majority of the contest. In the fourth quarter, the Colts erased the Patriots 17 point lead when Bill Belichick made the decision to try a 4th and 2 completion to Kevin Faulk. The Colts would take over on downs and score the game-winning touchdown score. Manning and the Colts left Lucas Oil Stadium with a 35-34 victory.

Colts vs. Chiefs: 2003-2004 AFC Divisional Playoff Round

At the time, the Indianapolis Colts and Kansas City Chiefs were two of the best offenses in the National Football League during the 2003 regular season. Chiefs running back, Priest Holmes was coming off a record-breaking campaign, when he scored a season high 27 touchdowns, (all from the ground) during the regular season. The Chiefs offense was clicking on all cylinders against the Colts, but they ran into a buzz saw in Peyton Manning. The Colts would advance in the 2003-2004 AFC Championship Game when they defeated the Chiefs in a 38-31 shootout. “The Sheriff” torched the Chiefs defense for 304 yards and two touchdown passes.
