Once again the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Giants kick off the 1st week in the National Football League on NBC’s Sunday Night Football. The Giants swept the Cowboys in both of their meetings last season.
The Giants defense provided the blueprint on how to handle the Cowboys vaunted rushing attack. If they can have the same outing against them tomorrow night, the Cowboys may need to rethink how they prepare for the Giants in their next contest and other opponents on their schedule as well.
Good defensive coordinators usually figure out how to neutralize offenses that possess a massive o-line as the Cowboys have. The Cowboys defense must contain the Giants primary weapon on offense in wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. However, OBJ has a sidekick in veteran Brandon Marshall. Even at the age of 33 Marshall is still capable of tearing apart opposing secondaries.
Dallas cannot allow Marshall to have a field day in this ball game if Odell Beckham Jr. cannot contribute to the Giants offense due to a nagging injury that he suffered in a preseason game against the Cleveland Browns.
Also, do not forget about Giants second-year wideout Sterling Shepard, who is also capable of striking fear in opposing secondaries. My final prediction for this ball game is that the Cowboys defense will apply enough pressure to suppress the Giants weak offensive line which will allow them to win this contest.
