Eagles vs Cowboys: Game of the Week Prediction

Eagles     20

Cowboys 27

One of the NFL’s most heated rivalries will collide on Sunday Night Football when the Philadelphia Eagles head down to Arlington, Texas to face the Dallas Cowboys in a crucial NFC East matchup. Both football teams have rookies starting at the quarterback position right now. No one did not envision that Dak Prescott and Carson Wentz would be leading their teams to successful records.

The Cowboys are having success without Dez Bryant and Tony Romo, two players that are essential to the Cowboys offense. The reason the Cowboys are in first place in the NFC East right now is that massive offensive line. The Cowboys o-line allow players such as Ezekiel Elliot and Dak Prescot to make big plays and extend drives.

This Sunday against the Eagles, they must be able to rattle the Eagles vaunted defense that is currently ranked 5th in the league in total defense. (307.0) By far the Eagles defense will be Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliot’s toughest challenge of the season.

In regards to the Cowboys defense, they must eliminate the threat of running back Darren Sproles catching passes out of the backfield that could affect the outcome of the football game. Their opponent, the Philadelphia Eagles, are coming off an impressive victory over the Minnesota Vikings who were undefeated at the time.

The Eagles defense spoiled the homecoming of former quarterback Sam Bradford, by sacking him six times and forced him to turn the football over on three different occasions. On Sunday Night, they will have to rattle Dak Prescott by forcing him to stay in the pocket and play the role of a more conventional style quarterback.

However, if Prescott is forced into becoming a pocket passer, it might turn into the Eagles worst nightmare. The reason is that wide receiver Dez Bryant returns to the lineup after missing a couple of games due to an injury he suffered against the Chicago Bears in Week 3.

The Eagles did an outstanding job shutting down the Pittsburgh Steelers plethora of wide receivers in Week 3, but it will be interesting to see how Jason Garrett will utilize Dez Bryant in this football game against Philadelphia’s strong secondary.

My prediction for this contest is that both teams will play great defense, but Dak Prescott and the Cowboys offense will figure out a way to leave AT&T Stadium with a victory this Sunday Night. Even though the Eagles have the better defense between the two teams, the Cowboys are the complete football team.
