Eagles vs Cardinals: Game of the Week Prediction

Eagles        35

Cardinals   20

This Sunday two NFC powers collide when the Philadelphia Eagles head into the desert to take on the NFC West leading Arizona Cardinals. Even though it has not looked pretty the Cardinals offense has come up big when it matter most. However when you face a high powered offense such as the Philadelphia Eagles you are going to need more than big breaks to go your way.

If the Cardinals are going to win this matchup they will have to get star wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald involved in the passing game. Fitzgerald only has 283 yards receiving and 1 touchdown reception thru seven weeks of football. That must change tomorrow if the Cardinals want to go higher this season.

The Cardinals opponent the Philadelphia Eagles head into this matchup as the second seed in the NFC East behind their division rival the Dallas Cowboys. A win tomorrow followed by a possible Cowboys loss on Monday Night Football will put the Eagles on top of the once awful division. The Eagles will be in the same situation that they were in when they took on another NFC West opponent the San Francisco 49ers.

I say that because the Eagles went up against an injury ridden 49ers ball club that they had numerous chances to close the door on but failed to do so in the end. If you remember the Eagles offense did not generate a single touchdown in that contest. The Cardinals have numerous injuries on the defensive side of the ball as well but the only difference is that the 49ers have the weapons on offense to mask those key losses.

On the other hand the last time the Cardinals went up against a high powered offense it was not pretty. They got decimated by Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos 41-20. This Sunday I expect that trend to continue once again by the Philadelphia Eagles.
