The last time the Seattle Seahawks and the Arizona Cardinals faced each other; the Seahawks delivered a 35-6 beatdown in route to their second Super Bowl appearance. 2015 is here, and it is the first meeting between these two franchises this season. However, the Seahawks are not the dominant team in the NFC West right now; it is the Arizona Cardinals.
The Cardinals come into this matchup as one of the premier teams in the NFL right now. They are currently the 3rd seed in the NFC Playoff Picture and could be the 2nd seed if the free fall in Green Bay continues.
They will try to improve their standings this Sunday when they take on the Seattle Seahawks. The Seahawks flat out embarrassed the Arizona Cardinals the last time they faced them on NBC’s Sunday Night Football. However, the central component of the Cardinals offense did not play the last time these two teams met each other. The key element that we are talking about is quarterback Carson Palmer.
Palmer missed the rest of the 2014 regular season with a torn ACL injury. He will be ready to roll this Sunday in the Cardinals in the showdown in the “Emerald City.” Carson Palmer and the Cardinals offense will have to deal with the noisy confines of Century Link Field. The intense crowd noise at Century Link should not be an issue for this ball club.
The reason is that the Seahawks are a division opponent that they know all too well of. Another reason is that the Cardinals were the team that ended the Seahawks undefeated record at home back in 2013. In that game, Palmer passed for 178 yards, one touchdown pass, and four interceptions.
Palmer will be facing the same secondary that he saw in 2013, however; the Cardinals will have far more firepower on offense than what it had in 2013. On top of that if Chris Johnson can run the football successfully against the Seahawks rush defense, they will most likely win this ball game. The Cardinals opponent the Seattle Seahawks are the projected 8th seed in NFC Playoff Picture.
If you have been watching the NFL for more than a decade, you know that the 8th seed will not be allowed entry into the playoffs. The current playoff structure in the NFL, only allow six teams. The Seahawks will try to become one of the six teams that will make the playoffs. However, their mid-season run must start this Sunday Night against the Cardinals.
They cannot afford to lose another game this season if they want to repeat as division champions of the NFC West. They must also protect the lead if they have it in the fourth quarter, especially if it is at least by 24 points. The Seahawks has blown a fourth quarter lead on numerous occasions this season. They must not repeat the same trend this Sunday against the Cardinals.
The Cardinals have the weapons on offense to quickly mount a second half comeback against the Seahawks. My prediction for this game is that the Seahawks defense will neutralize the Cardinals offense to only 21 points in this ball game. The Cardinals will make an attempt to comeback in this contest, but it will not succeed in the end.
