The Oklahoma Sooners versus the Ohio State Buckeyes is the second major game of the 2017 college football season behind last week’s Florida State versus Alabama match up which turned out to be a no contest.
If the Sooners could leave Columbus with a victory, it will benefit them in the long-run when it comes to the playoff selection committee late in the year.
Their defense must neutralize dual-threat quarterback J.T. Barrett to have a fighter’s chance of winning this football game. Barrett is the main contributor to Buckeyes offense. We saw what they did against the Indiana Hoosiers in the second half of last weeks game when they shooked off those opening day wrinkles.
The Sooners must not allow that to happen to them in this week’s ball game. If their defense can minimize the big play capabilities of the Buckeyes offense, then we might be in for an exciting football game tomorrow night.
To go along with that, this will also be the first big football game for first-year head coach Lincoln Riley. Riley took over for Bob Stoops who abruptly retired in the offseason. Lincoln can put his name on the map with a victory over Urban Meyer tomorrow.
My final prediction for this contest is that the Buckeyes will leave “the shoe” with a 2-0 record. The Sooners have the personnel on offense to hang with the Buckeyes, but I just do not trust their defense to contain J.T. Barrett for all four quarters of this football game.
