3 Oklahoma VS 11 Oklahoma State: College Football Game of the Week Prediction

11 Oklahoma State 34

3 Oklahoma             38

This Saturday there will be a lot riding on the line as the Oklahoma Sooners and the Oklahoma State Cowboys continue their rivalry known as “Bedlam.” The Sooners lead the series 84-18-7. They are in the driver’s seat to represent the Big 12 Conference in the College Football Playoffs this season. However, to make that happen, they must defeat the Oklahoma State Cowboys, who also have playoff aspirations as well.

In my opinion, the Oklahoma Sooners is the Big 12 Conference only hope of a team representing them in the playoffs this season. Nothing against the Cowboys, but they do not have the winning tradition, such as the likes of the Sooners. If the Cowboys do defeat the Sooners, they are going to need a ton a help from teams such as Florida, Stanford, Notre Dame and Baylor to name a few.

Can the following teams that I mentioned, along with the others lose this Saturday? It’s highly possible, but the reality is that the Cowboys blew their opportunity to become playoff contenders when they lost last week to the Baylor Bears 45-35. The Bears are another team that has playoff aspirations in the Big 12 Conference.

The Sooners have a plethora of talent on the offensive side of the ball such as quarterback Baker Mayfield and running back Samaje Perine. Those two will have to be on their A-Game for the Sooners to win this contest. Mayfield did not return to the game after taking a vicious shot in the first half against the TCU Horned Frogs last week.

Reports are saying that Mayfield will indeed be ready for the big matchup this Saturday against the Cowboys. My prediction for this contest is that we will see another classic shootout between two Big 12 teams with the Sooners leaving Stillwater with the victory at the end.

The Oklahoma Sooners will most likely make the playoffs this year, but that can change if Sparty wins tomorrow and wins again in Indianapolis at the B1G Conference Championship Game. That win against Ohio State holds weight with the playoff committee.
