2017-2018 COLLEGE FOOTBALL PLAYOFF PROJECTED OUTLOOK

We are only five days away from the first big game of the 2017-2018 college football season between 1 Alabama vs 3 Florida State. The outcome of that football game will have huge National Championship implications in the future.

But before we analyze the big game between those two powerhouses, Tops Sports releases their 2017-2018 College Football Playoff Projected Outlook post. These are the four teams that we believe will make it to this year’s college football version of the Final Four.

2017-2018 COLLEGE FOOTBALL PLAYOFFS SEMIFINALS

Sugar Bowl: 1 Alabama vs 4 Florida State

The Florida State Seminoles are once again loaded to make another run at the National Title, after having a season in which the program was rebuilding. However, they still managed to participate in the New Year’s Six Bowl Game.

The “Noles” defeated the Michigan Wolverines in an exciting finish at the Orange Bowl. I believe with the help of other National Title contenders in regards to losing their perspective ball games; the Florida State Seminoles will return to the playoffs for the first time since the 2014-2015 season.

This time they will face perennial contender the Alabama Crimson Tide in the semi-finals round of the playoffs. The Seminoles will put up a fight against the Crimson Tide, but it will not be enough to advance to the final round of the playoffs.

Rose Bowl: 2 Ohio State vs 3 USC

I know that many individuals are not ready to elevate the USC Trojans to National Title contenders this season, even though they have the best quarterback in the nation in Heisman Trophy candidate, Sam Darnold.

I believe that this year’s version Trojans are more prepared to handle the pressure of contending for a National Title than those teams of previous seasons, because of the coaching. As soon as the athletic department and the boosters at USC stop trying to search for the next Pete Carroll, the program got better once again.

Head Coach Clay Helton is the right guy for to handle the pressure of contending for National Title on a consistent basis at Southern California. Tops Sports predicts that the Trojans will face the Ohio State Buckeyes in the semifinal round of the playoffs.

A USC vs Ohio State matchup is usually reserved for the traditional B1G vs PAC-12 Conference Rose Bowl contest. However, this time around, the stakes are much higher. The “Men of Troy” shall march on to the final round of the playoffs to face the Alabama Crimson Tide.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL ROUND: 1 Alabama vs 3 USC

At the start of last year’s college football season, the USC Trojans got dismantled by the Alabama Crimson Tide 52-6. Sam Darnold was not the Trojans starter at the time, and some of us thought that Clay Helton was in over his head as the new head coach of the Trojans. We have seen top-tier quarterbacks give the Crimson Tide fits in previous National Title games.

Will Sam Darnold present the same challenge? I think that Nick Saban will figure out away to rattle Darnold and win a 16th National Title for the Crimson Tide. Alabama shall win the National Title, but I believe they will face some of the same challenges that they faced when they took on Clemson in back to back championship matchups.
