2015-2016 College Football Playoffs Projected Outlook

This article is a continuation of the “Six Teams that Will Contend for a National Title Throughout 2015-2016” post. In that post, I listed six teams that will be in the race for the National Title for the entire 2015-2016 season. However, there can only be four that will make it to the “big dance” and only two can play for the right to be called a National Champion.

2015-2015 College Football Playoffs Semifinals

Orange Bowl: 2 TCU VS 4 USC

2 TCU 42

4 USC 28

I predict that the Trojans will defeat Oregon in the last game of the season, which will catapult them in the PAC-12 Championship game and on to the semifinal round of the playoffs in Arlington, Texas. They will run into a buzz saw known as the Horned Frogs of Texas Christian University. The game will be close in the beginning, but TCU will pull ahead in the end. The Horned Frogs are just too talented on offense for the Trojans to handle.

Cotton Bowl: 1 Ohio State VS 4 Auburn

1 Ohio State 38

3 Auburn      37

Unlike last year when the Crimson Tide was caught off guard by the speed of the Ohio State Buckeyes that will not be the case in this year’s semifinal. The Auburn Tigers run the same system on offense as the Buckeyes. Expect a lot of fireworks in this contest. I predict that Buckeyes come from behind and win this one.

College Football National Championship Final Round: 1 Ohio State VS 2 TCU

Location: Glendale, Arizona

1 Ohio State 35

2 TCU           31

For the second consecutive time, we will see a no 1 VS 2 matchup in the final round of the College Football Playoffs. The Buckeyes will be ready to defend their title, but they will have a tall order in taking the down the TCU Horned Frogs of the Big 12 Conference. TCU will be motivated by what happened last year when they were denied an opportunity to participate in the playoffs. They will have a chance to prove that they deserve to play for a National Title when they go up against the Buckeyes. My prediction for this potential matchup is that Ohio State will struggle in the beginning, but they will repeat as National Champions of college football.
