4 Ohio State 38
2 Oregon 35
The Ohio State Buckeyes pulled off one of the biggest upsets of the college football season when they defeated the Alabama Crimson Tide 42-35, in the College Football Semi-Final Round of the playoffs last week. Many fans and analyst including myself thought that the moment would be too big for quarterback Cardale Jones when he went up against the vaunted Alabama defense.
However, Jones exceeds my expectations and played lights out against the Tide. It was like Jones was a four-year starter playing against a high-caliber team such as Alabama. Now they have one more game remaining to win the National Title. That one more game will be against the fast pace Oregon Ducks of the PAC-12 Conference.
Unlike the Buckeyes, who struggled a bit when they took on their opponent in the semifinals last week, the Ducks had no problem demolishing the Florida State Seminoles 59-20, in the 2015 Rose Bowl Game. Both of these teams run similar offensive schemes, but I believe the Buckeyes have the better defense out of the two. Ohio State must continue to do what they did against Alabama if they want to win the National Title this season.
I honestly do not believe that the loss of wide receiver Darren Carrington will affect Oregon’s offense, not one bit. They have so many weapons on that team that can step up to the plate and carry the load that Carrington left on the field. Oregon Ducks quarterback Marcus Mariotta must not make any mistakes in this ball game such as throwing interceptions, or fumbling the ball while running. If so the Buckeyes will make him, and the Ducks pay like they did when Alabama turned the ball over to them in the Sugar Bowl.
My prediction for this matchup is that it will indeed be a shootout between these two evenly matched teams. But I believe the Buckeyes will once again have the outcome in the last college football game of the season.
